Do you love the outdoor so much that you don’t want the confinement of a house? If so, then you will definitely love the V House. Plan B Arquitectos (Felipe Mesa) and Giancarlo Mazzanti designed this modern house in such a way that it can provide you with a comfortable abode as well as a private picnic ground and lookout where you can view the nature around you.
The V House is located in the high plateau of Sabana de Bogota in Colombia. It is built in a sloping hill, which gives an excellent opportunity for designing an interesting architecture. From the outside, this house looks like it has two main stories, but inside you can see quite a lot of levels which are too high to be called stairs but not high or wide enough to be an entire floor. Stairs are carved into one side of these levels. On each of these levels is a set of musical instruments, such as a drum set. The floor is a light shade of wood. One of the walls that flank the levels is entirely glass, while the opposite wall is made of huge stone tiles with cream color. The far wall is also glass. This abundant use of glass, added with the bright colors of the interior, makes the room feel airy and free, open to the nature outside.
But the highlight of this house is certainly its open roof terraces. There are two terraces—one on each story—and they are connected with levels not unlike the one inside the house. On these levels are potted plants, and beside these levels is also a little staircase, so you can easily move between the two terraces. The upper terrace is a grass field where you can have a picnic. However, I don’t think you should try playing soccer here since the terrace has no safety railing or parapet that can prevent you from falling to the ground down below. At the back of this terrace is the driveway.
The lower terrace is quite more spacious than the upper terrace. It does not have a grass field, but it has several sitting areas and sunbeds. Here you can enjoy your meal, bask in the sun, or just sit down and relax with your loved ones. The best thing about these terraces is of course the view that it provides. Thanks to its height, you’ll have an unobstructed view to the surrounding hills and the green valley below. It really is breathtaking, and you can enjoy all this in the roof of your house! How wonderful!
